Aromatherapy Equipment – How to Start
A fairly common question for people new to aromatherapy is, “How much aromatherapy equipment do I need to get started?” The great thing about aromatherapy is that it’s so easy for beginners to jump in and reap the benefits. We’ve talked a little bit about this in our Is Aromatherapy Good for Beginners? section. If you were to start with just a single essential oil, as we suggest there, you’d have a great entry point into the world of essential oils and aromatherapy.
Of course, you can go as deep as you’d like. Perhaps you just want a basic understanding of how aromatherapy can help with everyday medical needs, like cuts, burns, and bug bites. Maybe you dream of starting your own homegrown aromatherapy beauty company, complete with nourishing scrubs, lotions, and balms. Or perhaps you just want to lighten your “chemical load” by creating your own healthy beauty products, mood boosters, and cleaning agents.
No matter what draws you to aromatherapy – or how far you’d like to go with it – at aromatherapy.net, we’ve got the resources to help you along your journey.
What to know before you get started
Just like you don’t need to own every possible piece of aromatherapy equipment, you also don’t need to know absolutely everything about the world of aromatherapy before you get started, since aromatherapy lends itself so well to experimentation. However, it is important to review a few basic safety precautions. We’ve outlined them for you here:
- Is Aromatherapy Safe?
- DOs and DON’Ts of Aromatherapy
Once you’ve got a basic grasp of how to treat essential oils with the respect they deserve, you can start having fun with them! Consider our Resource Center your starting point for all aromatherapy-related questions. We’ve designed it with beginners in mind, and have tried to provide a basic overview of many aspects of aromatherapy, from creating your own beauty products to stocking your own essential oil first-aid kit. As you grow and learn more, we’ll grow with you, offering advice, suggestions, and knowledge for your journey. This should be fun!
Aromatherapy Equipment you need before you get started
All you need to get started is one or two essential oils. It’s really that easy! Once you’ve picked out a couple of essential oils that appeal to you (you can get some good ideas for where to start here), you’ll have the first elements of your aromatherapy toolbox.
After that, it’s up to you how far you want to go. If you’re planning to create your own beauty lotions and scrubs, you may need to invest in quality containers for your blends, as well as additional essential oils, carrier oils, and other ingredients, like salt or sugar (for scrubs). Or, if you’d like to use aromatherapy to enhance your environment, you may invest in a diffuser to help spread the scent throughout a room.
However, at the most basic level, all the aromatherapy equipment you really need to get started with aromatherapy is a sense of adventure, a willingness to learn, and a couple of oils to get you started!
