Do Aromatherapy Beauty Products Compete?
Wander the aisles of the beauty section at your local store, and you’ll find them stocked with lotions and potions promising everything from a youthful glow to a smoother brow. But despite their slick packaging and alluring marketing claims, too many of these products are laden with chemicals we’re just now beginning to understand. Many of them haven’t been thoroughly researched to determine their safety, and we really have no idea how these chemicals react with each other, let alone with our bodies – especially over time.
Traditional Beauty Industry Exposed
In recent years, organizations like the Environmental Working Group have been working to expose the not-so-pleasant chemicals in many common beauty products, and have been educating consumers on the risks these chemicals pose. Thanks to their work – and to a growing consumer preference for more natural products – people are seeking out simpler, safer ingredients to use as part of their beauty routine.
Don’t Compromise Your Skin!
If you’re concerned about what you put on your skin or use in the bath, you’ll welcome the chance to introduce essential oils and natural ingredients to your regimen. It’s incredibly satisfying (and surprisingly easy!) to create your own aromatherapy-based beauty products. In doing so, not only do you get to control exactly what comes in contact with your body, you get to save money. With a little know-how, you can create beauty products that are just as effective (or more so!) than their chemical counterparts – but without the fancy price tag!
Aromatherapy Beauty Products Don’t Use Chemicals
Some people have asked us, “If aromatherapy beauty products work so well, why is the fancy stuff at the store so much more expensive?” The simple truth comes down to marketing and money. Beauty companies have an interest in creating chemical formulations that can be patented and marketed for maximum profits; the same isn’t true of essential oils, which come to us from nature and can’t be easily patented. There’s no such thing as a “proprietary” lavender essential oil! Because of that, there isn’t a strong incentive to market just an essential oil – even if that essential oil might produce better results than its chemical counterpart!
Cut Out the Marketing Middle Man!
Also remember that when you purchase a beauty product from the store, you’re paying for the marketing, packaging design, preservatives, shelf space, and countless other factors that have nothing to do with the product itself. When you create your own beauty products, you cut out these non-essentials.
